Delhi: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the University of Delhi (DU) and the University of Leeds (UoL), formally establishing a strategic relationship. Deeper participation in joint research, scholarly interchange, and capacity building between the two universities are the goals of the partnership.

The MoU expands upon a long-standing partnership headed by the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of London. Scholars and early-career researchers from both universities convened in Delhi in April 2025 for a symposium on social science research methods. This session was a significant step forward for inter-institutional and interdisciplinary communication.

"This agreement with the University of Delhi is an important part of our ambition to be a truly global university," stated Professor Shearer West, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Leeds, in reference to the Memorandum of Understanding. It demonstrates our dedication to creating deep collaborations that promote influential research, enhance the lives of students and employees, and advance common academic and societal objectives. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with DU in the years to come.

The MoU lays the groundwork for partnerships that include faculty and student exchanges, academic activities, cooperative research projects, and pooled resources.

"We welcome this partnership with the University of Leeds as an opportunity to build collaborative networks that advance our academic mission," stated Professor Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi. Our common ideals of creativity, inclusivity, and quality in research and higher education are reflected in this Memorandum of Understanding.

In the next months, more details about future collaborative projects are expected to be revealed.
