It may be noted that the tour of England is going to be very challenging for Gautam Gambhir as a head coach. Ever since he became a coach, Team India has performed poorly under Test cricket. Under his guidance, last year India suffered a 3–0 defeat in the Test series against New Zealand at home, after which the Indian team also failed in Australia.

Australia defeated India 3–1 as well as broke the dream of reaching the final of the World Test Championship. The Indian team’s command for the Test series on England has been handed over to Shubman Gill, while big players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not be part of the tour, who recently retired from Test cricket.
